Gods of Campo
ods of Campo is based on the classic Space Invaders format, and experiments with the video game genre applied to a specific context. The video game’s scenario is a magical place for the author - the river Palanca and its bridge, and that is the starting point when guiding the demon to kill the angels that come down peacefully from heaven. As more angels are killed, the levels and difficulty increase. They come down more quickly and there are more of them in the final phases of the game. After the final score (when the player is eliminated, i.e. when an angel crosses the horizontal axis) the player is added to a dynamic ranking and it is also possible to access a screen where we can see the current pantheon of gods and their particular attributes. The aim is to update the pantheon and create a story that covers the various phases of their lives.
The humorous side of the project is interesting. It also involves painstaking digital graphic art and programming work, as generating an Actionscript code so that a game can handle many types of variables and autogenerate itself is no easy task. Produced as part of the Master's degree in Digital Arts, 2004/2005.
